Wiring Instructions:

Step 1:

Connect the Smart Loadshedding Notification Switch to power:

• Connect the end of the black / white cable (connected to a Sonoff Mini R2) on the Smart Loadshedding Notification Switch to a 2/3pin plug.
N.B this end needs to be connected to a wall plug that is connected to Back-up power, such as an inverter or generator.

Step 2:

Pairing the Sonoff Mini R2:

• Download the eWelink app from the Google Play/ IOS app store or open the app if you already have it downloaded.
• Put the Sonoff Mini R2 into pairing mode. The first time the Sonoff Mini R2 is connected to a power source a blue light will flash (2 short and 1 long flash). This is visible in the opening of the Smart Loadshedding Notification Switch. If the Sonoff Mini R2 is not paired within 3 minutes, it will exit pairing mode. To get back into pairing mode again, Press and hold down the button of the Sonoff Mini R2 for 5sec
• On the eWelink app select “+” then quick pairing and follow the prompts.
• Rename the Sonoff Mini R2 switch to “Loadshedding Notification” (or any other name)
• N.B Please ensure that a 2.4ghz WIFI network is used for pairing the Sonoff Mini R2

Step 3:

Configuring the Smart Loadshedding Notification Switch:

• Open the eWelink app and select the Loadshedding Notification Switch
• Ensure that the switch is set to “ON”
• Click on 3 dots on the top right hand corner
• Change the “Power-on State” to OFF
• Change the Switch Mode to Following Mode.
• Turn push notifications ON if you want to be notified on whether you are being loadshedded.
• Connect a micro USB cable with a 5v 1/2A power supply to the micro USB input of the Smart Loadshedding Notification Switch.
N.B
the micro USB cable and power supply needs to be connected to a plug point that is connected to municipal power from the electrical grid (Eskom)
• The Smart Loadshedding Notification Switch will turn OFF when the USB is connected, indicating that there is power from Eskom
• Remove the USB cable, the Smart Loadshedding Notification Switch will turn ON, indicating that there is NO power from Eskom (Loadshedding ON)
• Plug the USB cable again and the Smart Loadshedding Notification Switch will turn OFF.
• Next steps – create scenes to turn devices on the eWelink app ON/OFF based on the Smart Loadshedding Notification Switch being ON/OFF

Note:

In the event of the Generator or Inverter, that’s powering the Smart Loadshedding Notification Switch, goes OFF and then ON again you may need to reset the device. Follow the below steps to reset it.

• Open the eWelink app
• Pull out the USB side of the Smart Loadshedding Notification Switch
• Ensure that the Sonoff Mini R2 is on the ON state, If the Sonoff Mini R2 does not in the ON state you can change it on the app manually.
